Alison E.F. Reuter, PhD.

Dr. Reuter completed doctoral internship and post doctoral fellowship in health psychology and pediatric neuropsychology. Dr. Reuter has 14 years of experience as a mental health clinician and offers assessment and therapy services for adults, adolescents and children.  In addition to neuropsychological assessment, she specializes in behavioral medicine, child giftedness, autism spectrum disorders, depression, anxiety, and other issues of mental health.  She generates positive treatment results using a strengths-based approach to psychotherapy, in which the focus of therapy is based on generalizing what is right with an individual to enhance their emotional growth, as opposed to only focusing on what is wrong.

Alison Reuter completed her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University. Her research interests are health psychology and Dr. Reuter wrote her dissertation on perceptions of health and wellness among native Hawaiians. She previously earned a Master's degree in Asian Religion from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Ethics at Lake Forest College in Illinois.

Dr. Reuter is an Ericksonian trained hypnotherapist and studies Eastern Psychology.  She has obtained training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is the foremost treatment modality for adults and children who have experienced trauma. 

Dr. Reuter has an extensive background in the therapeutic treatment of substance abuse and individuals with HIV disease. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Arizona Psychological Association, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

Dr. Reuter is a member of the Board of Directors for Aloha in the Desert, which aims to educate school-aged children about Hawaiian history and culture.
